LUCY AND HER PUPPIES JUNE 2007 - puppies 9 days old

Below are details of Lucy's recent litter. More up to date photos can be seen on the "Puppies" page link.

The first week we said "never again" as this was our first litter. But as time has gone on we realise what a great experience this was. It was also extremely hard work with sleepless nights, having to hand feed for a couple of days when Lucy was ill with mastitis, and a huge learning curve for us.

Lucy was a super mother caring for her puppies 24 hours, especially the first few weeks refusing to leave the whelping box without coaxing. This was her first, and last, litter.

There were 7 puppies, 3 blue bitches, 2 orange bitches and 2 blue dogs. We have kept an orange bitch for ourselves to show. The other puppies are scattered around the country and all have super homes, all going to homes where they have or have previously had a setter. Lucy seems quite relieved now they have gone and she can rest.

At 2 weeks old - puppies eyes almost totally open. Starting to get up on their feet and try to walk. Also trying to bark and a noisey bunch especially when mum appears and the milk bar is open for business ! (Pictures to follow)
